Ventura County College Personnel Panel Member Named

Share

After opening the position to outside applicants, trustees of the Ventura County Community College District named a new member to serve on the personnel commission, which interprets employee bylaws and acts as a liaison between workers and the college board.

Tony V. Grey, a retired U.S. Navy master chief, replaced Col. James McDonald, who served on the commission for 15 years.

“We had significant input from people in the district that said we shouldn’t just automatically reappoint people, so we looked outside,” said trustee John Tallman, who participated in the interview process. In the past, trustees usually reappointed people on the three-member commission.

Grey, who has a three-year term, serves on the boards of directors for the Ventura County Fair, United Way of Ventura County, and St. John’s Regional Medical Center Foundation. He is also the executive director of the Filipino American Council.
