Man Charged After Hostage Standoff

A man accused of firing gunshots into the ceiling while he held his ex-girlfriend hostage in a Skokie shopping mall beauty parlor was charged with kidnapping. Lorenzo Davis Jr. surrendered late Friday. About eight hours earlier, he had barged into the salon in the Old Orchard mall and started shooting, police said. Davis, 31, faces a kidnapping charge as well as aggravated criminal sexual assault, burglary and stalking because of other confrontations. The woman was not harmed in the standoff.
