Duck update--They have lost three games in a row on the heels of an 8-3-2 stretch, though the last two losses have been on the road against the Rangers and New Jersey, two of the NHL’s better teams. “It’s a fine line between being on top of your game and not being on top of your game,” center Ted Drury said. “You don’t have to be perfect to win in this league, but you have to be close.” A loss tonight would raise the likelihood of a very poor trip, with games at Florida and Tampa Bay remaining.

Senator update--There are signs of improvement, with three victories in the last five games, including wins over Florida and the Rangers. The Senators held Montreal and the Rangers to season-low shot totals last week. Daniel Alfredsson, last season’s NHL rookie of the year, leads the team in scoring with 35 points. Former No. 1 overall pick Alexandre Daigle, has scored 16 goals, four shy of his career high.
