Not milk? No, but it’s not metal either. While proving himself a good sport, Boone never gets his white bucks dirty on this high-concept project. And despite some ace big-band arrangements (“Smoke on the Water” and “Panama” as sambas, a shuffling “Stairway to Heaven”), he rarely transforms the material into swingin’ standards that might transcend the novelty angle.
