Duck update--Their four-game trip to play the Islanders, Toronto, Edmonton and Calgary doesn’t appear all that difficult. Only surprising Edmonton has a .500 record and is in a playoff position. But of the Ducks’ 20 victories, only seven have been on the road. Left wing Paul Kariya has 10 goals and seven assists in the last 10 games. Goaltender Guy Hebert is expected to start his franchise-record 20th consecutive game tonight. He has a 13-9-2 record and a 2.28 goals-against average in the last 24 games.

Islander update--Mike Milbury was ordered to concentrate on his duties as general manager and Rick Bowness was hired as coach late last month. But the Islanders remain in last place in the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference. Zigmund Palffy is the lone bright spot, having scored a team-leading 30 goals with 25 assists in 49 games.
