Clipper update--Tonight’s game could be a preview of the playoffs. If the season ended today, the Lakers would face the Clippers in the opening round. The Lakers won the first meeting, 107-100, last November at the Forum. Guard Brent Barry, who sat out three games because of a sprained left ankle, practiced Monday and is expected to play. Barry had a season-high 17 points in his last game. The Clippers have won four of their last five. Center Stanley Roberts, who was held out of Saturday night’s victory over the Golden State Warriors to rest his back, is also expected to play.

Laker update--The six-game winning streak has come while outscoring opponents by an average of 14 points, 109.5-95.5. That offensive surge has pushed the Lakers’ season average to 99.5 points a game, nearing the top five in the league. Another victory tonight would mean their first seven-game run in almost a year, since last Feb. 4-23. The Lakers’ only previous game at the Pond of Anaheim was an exhibition in October, 1994.
