NERF BALL

With the “Star Wars” re-release capturing popular fancy, Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) is making his first-ever appearance in a rock video. He just filmed a guest spot, along with “Twin Peaks” co-star Miguel Ferrer and veteran actor Joseph Campanella, in a clip for the song “Sorry” by Santa Barbara band Nerf Herder--whose name actually comes from a throwaway line in “The Empire Strikes Back.”

Hamill is close friends with Ferrer, who was brought in by longtime acquaintance Lonn Friend, who signed the band to Arista recently. The “Star Wars” star was already familiar with the band--which made its mark in recent months with the satirical song and video “Van Halen”--because his young son is a fan. The shoot, in which Hamill and Ferrer play police detectives, with Campanella as their dour chief, turned into an impromptu reunion: Hamill played Campanella’s son 22 years ago in an episode of the TV series “Owen Marshall, Counselor at Law”--which, to bring this full circle, was set in Santa Barbara.
