Charter Reform Candidates

* Re “112 Candidates Vie for Charter Reform Panel,” Jan. 28.

It is curious that only about 25 candidates have signed up to run for the eight City Council seats that are up for grabs in the April election. One would think more people would be interested in the job.

On the other hand, 112 candidates signed up to run for 15 charter commissioner seats. These folks get no salary at all.

What a delight to learn that 112 Angelenos are willing to donate two free years of their lives to improving the operation of the city, just because they want to help.

I guess there is still some hope after all.
