OCC a Top Feeder for UC, Cal State Systems

Orange Coast College ranks first in Southern California and second statewide in transferring students to the University of California and California State University systems, according to a recent report by a statewide education commission that tracks colleges.

Between 1986 and 1996, Orange Coast transferred 16,166 students to UC and Cal State campuses, according to the 1997 report by the California Postsecondary Education Commission. Of those, 4,046 were to UC and 12,120 to Cal State.

Diablo Valley College of Pleasant Hill in Northern California led with 16,711 transfers to the public universities. City College of San Francisco was third statewide, with 14,613.

In Southern California, Santa Monica College followed OCC with 13,198 transfers. Fullerton College, with 11,978 transfers, was the only other Orange County community college in the top 10 statewide. Fullerton ranked 10th behind campuses in Pasadena and San Diego.
