Gymboree CEO Resigns; Earnings on Track

Gymboree Corp. said Nancy Pedot, president and chief executive, resigned and will be replaced by Gary White, who is chief operating officer. The company, which operates children’s clothing stores, also said it expects its earnings for its fiscal fourth quarter ended Feb. 2 to come within the range of analysts’ estimates. They range from 37 cents to 40 cents a share, based on a survey of four analysts by IBES International Inc. Gymboree shares rose 6 cents to close at $23.06 on Nasdaq. Pedot, who is known as a strong merchant, played a key role in developing the Gymboree brand and guiding the retailer’s store expansion. White, 45, came to Gymboree in February 1996 as senior vice president and chief operating officer after a 20-year career at Dayton Hudson Corp.
