** Hovercraft, “Akathisia,” Mute/Blast First. Straddling the fine line between entrancing and annoying, this instrumental trio (whose notoriety comes from the fact that bassist Sadie 7 is actually Beth Liebling, Eddie Vedder’s wife) crafts lengthy space-rock jams. At best, hints of “Ummagumma”-era Pink Floyd flow through Sonic Youth sensibilities, and there’s almost a gamelan quality to the 12-minute “Vagus Nerve.” But too often this debut album lands on the wrong side of the line.

Albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
