Wilson Wants Defensive Help Now
The Ducks desperately need another experienced defenseman, and General Manager Jack Ferreira met with Coach Ron Wilson after practice Sunday, but nothing seems in the offing.
“Teams aren’t going to help us,” Ferreira said. “Toronto, Phoenix, Chicago, we’re all too close in the standings.”
Still, the Ducks might not be able to afford to wait two weeks for David Karpa’s hand to heal.
“I think every coach wants another experienced defenseman, especially at this point of the season,” Wilson said. “We’re bidding with a lot of other teams. I don’t know whether it’s best to give up a high draft pick when the guys available are 31, 32. It’s a risk.
“[But] coaches don’t care. They just want to get the team going. GMs, they have to think long-term. Mine is obviously short-term thinking.”

Center Kevin Todd, out the last two weeks because of elbow tendinitis, said he hopes to return to the lineup today.
