No Problem with Wilson’s Extension

With pressure to make the playoffs building and Coach Ron Wilson’s contract up after this season, General Manager Jack Ferreira tried to ease the tension by telling Wilson he’ll speak to his agent this week about a long-promised extension.

The Ducks said last April that Wilson would be offered a new deal through at least 1998, but the organization has dragged its feet about getting an agreement on paper--a delay club President Tony Tavares has insisted doesn’t mean anything.

Ferreira’s move to cement the deal shows he does not want Wilson’s position perceived as insecure down the stretch.

Right wing Roman Oksiuta’s five-game return to the lineup ended as Kevin Todd returned after sitting out two weeks because of elbow tendinitis. The Ducks’ healthy scratches were left wing Jeremy Stevenson and defenseman Nikolai Tsulygin. . . .Center Sean Pronger left the game because of an abdominal strain. His status will be evaluated daily.
