Cameron Dollar and J.R. Henderson sit most...

Cameron Dollar and J.R. Henderson sit most of the half with three fouls, but USC scores only one basket in the final five minutes to give up any advantage it might have had. Jelani McCoy provides the half’s best play, an off-balance layup on a long pass from Toby Bailey, which he made despite an undercut from Elias Ayuso. McCoy celebrates the final Bruin basket of the half with shoulder rock that would make Nick Van Exel proud. The only animosity shown early was a forearm by Stais Boseman to Brandon Loyd that wasn’t called, and Boseman angrily kicking McCoy’s feet after a play was whistled dead. Apparently he didn’t like the new Reeboks several UCLA players unveiled for this game. Worst sight for Bruin fans: Loyd guarding Boseman for a little more than two minutes, during which Boseman made a three-point shot and runner off the glass before Charles O’Bannon switched to Boseman. Boseman greeted O’Bannon by banking in a three-pointer, giving USC its biggest lead, 21-13, with 11:59 left. Boseman grinned afterward, evidence that he did not call that one.
