Knight Might Be Out Too

Share

It wouldn’t be a Laker game these days unless a Laker got hurt, so Wednesday was Travis Knight’s turn.

His injury was a twisted ankle late in the first half against the Cleveland Cavaliers, one that looked serious when he hit the court clutching the leg but held up enough for him. But it also forced him out of practice Thursday and has him listed as day-to-day.

That could mean another lineup change for the Lakers tonight against Vancouver. If Knight, the new starting power forward, doesn’t play, it also means the Lakers will probably have to go with nine players because George McCloud, acquired in trade Thursday, is expected to arrive in Los Angeles today but not play.

Shaquille O’Neal spoke out against the Orlando Magic, and frustrations with Coach Brian Hill in particular, before the season and has tried to distance himself from that organization since. So when asked what he thought about Hill being fired, O’Neal was out of ammo, at least publicly.

“Good luck to Brian,” he said.

There was no sign of the sarcasm that had punctuated some of his previous digs at Hill.

“I have no reaction,” O’Neal said. “This is my team here.”
