Man Slain in Possible Gang Dispute
A 19-year-old Santa Ana man was shot to death Saturday night during what police described Sunday as a confrontation between gang members.
Ricardo Hernandez was found lying on the pavement in the 800 block of South Lyon Street by police responding at 10:20 p.m. to a call of shots fired, said Sgt. Dan Beaumarchais of the Santa Ana Police Department.
Hernandez, who had been shot once in the upper torso, was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he was pronounced dead, Beaumarchais said.
Hernandez had been riding in a car with friends who “had some kind of confrontation with another car occupied by several subjects,” Beaumarchais said.
The two cars stopped, Hernandez got out of the vehicle and was shot by an unknown assailant in the other car, Beaumarchais said. The assailants fled after the shooting.
