Runner Steve Scott, who holds the American record for the mile, will give running enthusiasts a chance to tap his fount of record-breaking knowledge during a lecture at the Rockwell Sciences Center Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Scott, who competed in three Olympics, has run more than 130 one-mile distances in less than 4 minutes--the most of any competitor in the world--and has completed eight one-mile races in less than 3 minutes, 50 seconds.

In addition to discussing his career and goals, Scott will talk about how to reach peak performance, proper nutrition and ways to train with other runners.

The lecture is sponsored by a number of area running clubs, including the U.S. Cultural Exchange and Sports Society of Thousand Oaks, the Thousand Oaks Running Club, the Conejo Track Club, the Triathlon Club and the Rincon Racing Club.

The Rockwell Sciences Center is at 1049 Camino Dos Rios, Thousand Oaks. The lecture is free.
