Parents Concerned Over Book Gifts

Share

* Please count us as concerned parents with children attending Conejo Valley schools who do not appreciate Elaine McKearn’s efforts to redeem our children (“Trustee’s Book Donation Alarms School Officials,” Feb. 15).

Not only do we find it presumptuous of McKearn to assume that “. . . most parents [here] would probably agree that Dr. Keyes has the right way of thinking . . . ,” but we find her suggestion that those who disagree “are of an alternative lifestyle” truly alarming, to say the least.

When this story is read in conjunction with an earlier article describing her proposal to expand the school board to seven members, it is hard to conclude anything other than McKearn has her own agenda to promote, without sincere regard for the children of our community. We fully support Dr. Jerry Gross and the other members of the school board who handled this issue with diplomacy and common sense.
