Master Plan for Laguna Getaway

Share

One of the local events that many travelers enjoy each year is Laguna Beach’s Pageant of the Masters in July and August. But a major problem is finding affordable lodging at a time when Laguna Beach is literally bursting at the seams with visitors. Plus, many hotels increase their rates during the pageant boom.

Seniors have found a Holiday Inn in Laguna Hills, about a 15-minute drive south from Laguna Beach on Interstate 5. The Holiday Inn offers a special package for seniors 60 and over who plan to attend the pageant. Regular rates at the Holiday Inn are $89 to $99 for a double. But for the duration of the pageant a special rate of $79 per night for two is available. It includes a full breakfast.

For those who want to visit nearby attractions, here are some driving times from the hotel: San Diego, one hour; Dana Point, 20 minutes; Disneyland, 40 minutes; Knott’s Berry Farm, 45 minutes. It is also within easy driving distance of Mission San Juan Capistrano.

For those flying to John Wayne Airport, a free shuttle will be provided by Holiday Inn, but you must arrange for it when making hotel reservations.
