Cigarette Blamed in $100,000 Business Fire
NEWBURY PARK —
Fire roared through a Newbury Park business late Saturday, causing an estimated $100,000 in damage.
It took firefighters from three engine companies of the Ventura County Fire Department more than three hours to put out the blaze at Creative Designs, 1000 Business Center Drive.
Firefighters responded to a report of a sprinkler alarm about 11 p.m., authorities said. The fire was apparently ignited by a smoldering cigarette, they added.
The two-story property suffered severe damage, but no injuries were reported.
