Four Simi Valley residents were in Ventura County Jail on Tuesday awaiting arraignment on charges that they were involved in a series of vehicle burglaries in Thousand Oaks and Camarillo, officials said.

Jeffrey Cummings, 23, and Christopher Hock, 28, were arrested in Thousand Oaks by deputies about 4:30 a.m. Monday in a truck that had its headlights off, said Det. Tom Bennett.

The deputies had been called to the area after a resident heard what she thought was a car window being shattered.

Inside Cummings and Hock’s truck deputies found a number of items that were later determined to have been stolen from at least five vehicles in Thousand Oaks around East Avenida de Los Arboles and Parkview Avenue, Bennett said.

Detectives determined that the two had been staying at a hotel in Simi Valley. At the hotel, deputies found Briana Eaton, 20, and Stephen Flaherty, 23, who were arrested for outstanding warrants. They also found a number of items that had been stolen from vehicles in Camarillo, Bennett said.

“I don’t know if it was a car burglary ring,” he said. “But I hope that since we’ve made the arrest we won’t be seeing the kind of vehicle break-ins we’ve been seeing lately.”
