Air Play

Yards and gardens seemingly take flight when filled with kinetic wind sculptures by Earth Saver.

The sculptures, which make up Earth Saver’s Dances With Nature collection, are made of recycled heavy metals. The sculptures are coated with a clear finish for easy cleaning and to seal in the shininess.

The works (about $75 each) are hand bent, which gives each piece a three-dimensional, one-of-a-kind look. They were designed for the collection by artists Bud Scheffel and Ursula Perry-Scheffel, who have been in the business for more than 15 years.

Of their work, the couple says: “Our sculptures are very captivating, creating a hypnotic and tranquil dance with the wind. The shadow play they create is truly intriguing.”

The collection includes a heron with hand-bent feathers, a family of dolphins, a sunflower that gives the illusion of petal play, a hummingbird, a frog and a cat playing with string.

The pieces vary in height, with the largest ones about 24 inches.

They are available at M&M; Nursery, 380 N. Tustin Ave., Orange. (714) 538-8042.

Pretty in Pale

Subtle shades by Calvin Klein lend a smoky hue to the table.

Luna, Klein’s newest dinnerware collection, features three shades--ocean, a pale blue; shale, a neutral gray blue; and manila, a soft yellow--which give the collection’s stark lines a soft, cool feel.

The stoneware’s silhouette is flat with a gentle lip for a modern look.

A five-piece place setting is $95; individual pieces range from $18 for a soup bowl to $32 for a dinner plate.
