OXNARD — Oxnard police witnessed a drive-by shooting in the parking lot of a gas station, then chased down and arrested four people, authorities said Saturday.
Ricardo Pech, 21; Pablo Avalos, 19; Miguel Munoz, 21; and a 17-year-old juvenile, all of Oxnard and reputed gang members, were taken into custody by plainclothes gang investigators shortly after 10 p.m. Friday, police said.
No injuries were reported and police recovered a loaded handgun from one of the suspects.
According to police, officers were at the Oxnard Unocal 76 station, 2330 Saviers Road, when the shooting occurred. Apparently, two rival gangs had challenged one another shortly before the incident.
Officers tried to stop the shooting, then stopped the car and chased the occupants on foot. All four suspects were charged with negligent discharge of a firearm from a vehicle and carrying a concealed and loaded weapon.
