The owner of a computer and bookkeeping consultant company has been chosen Businesswoman Member of the Year by the Los Angeles Chapter of Women in Management.

Carol Oehler, a North Hollywood resident, said she didn’t expect the honor. “I saw who won in past years and I couldn’t believe how together they are and polished they all are,” she said.

“I just didn’t feel I was under the same kinds of demands others were. But I guess everybody contributes in their own way,” she said.

Oehler was one of 20 women honored last week by the local chapter of the National Assn. of Women Business Owners at a luncheon at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel. She has served as treasurer of Women in Management for two years and has been a member since 1989.

The National Assn. of Women Business Owners is an umbrella group that includes about two dozen other businesswomen organizations. Each organization honors one of its own as member of the year.

Oehler founded her Valley-based Complete Office Support business in 1991. It currently assists 10 other businesses.

“This award made me stop and look at things,” Oehler said. “You get involved with what you’re doing every day and you don’t realize the kind of impact you have on people.”

According to Vivian Shimoyama, president-elect of the L.A. chapter, “The intention of the award really is to be able to help recognize many businesswomen. In addition to their jobs or business, these women give much to their trade organizations and give back to their community.”
