We’ve all heard of the Great American Smoke Out, the day when people are encouraged to quit smoking. Some vegans are promoting a Great American Meat Out (it’s Thursday). Unfortunately, it feeds (meatlessly) the stereotype that strict vegetarians have no sense of humor. “Smoke Out” was a pun, see?

Nevertheless, partly in honor of the Meat Out, we’ve got a vegetarian--though not vegan--Quick Fix menu on the back page of today’s Food section.
