State Jobs Office Opens at School
South County residents can take advantage of a new job resource with the opening of a state Employment Development Department office at the Capistrano Adult School.
EDD representatives are at the office every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon to help people find full- or part-time jobs in a variety of fields.
“We’re pretty excited about being out here so we can reach people in San Juan Capistrano, Dana Point and San Clemente,” EDD representative Jorge Perez said.
EDD has had an office in Mission Viejo for the last 3 1/2 years, but the department wanted to expand south so its services would be accessible to more residents in those communities, Perez said.
The department selected the school site in part because it is close to public transportation and centrally located in town, near Mission San Juan Capistrano.
“South County people have had a lot of trouble accessing EDD,” said Beverly de Nicola of Capistrano Adult School. “This is much more convenient.”
The office is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 5 p.m. at 31422 Camino Capistrano.
