Friday evening: My wife and I like to go to Toscana or Divino on the Westside or Pane e Vino in Hollywood. Pasta fagioli is my favorite. We might see a movie in Westwood, Century City or at the Royal on Santa Monica Boulevard.

Saturday morning: I hang out, take a deep breath, sit in the backyard, read the newspaper, call my kids and play with the dog. We may venture out to a bookstore, either Borders on Westwood or Book Soup on Sunset. Then we’ll go to Tower Records or Rhino and look for things I’ve heard during the week on KCRW or KUSC.

Saturday evening: We see a movie or check Wadsworth Theater for a concert, dance group or orchestra we might be interested in. We like to have sushi at U-Zen on Santa Monica.

Sunday morning: Newspapers. We get the L.A. Times and the New York Times. We sit in the backyard, have coffee, granola and bananas and read.

Sunday evening: Sunday night we see family, brothers and sisters, children, grandchildren, or we have friends over. My wife, Susan, is a great hostess. We may go to the theater, but Sundays are generally family days.
