No-Nonsense Vigilante Chosen for Team Logo

Share

The solemn-looking face framed by a bandanna and a 10-gallon hat is the official logo of the Mission Viejo Vigilantes, the baseball team’s officials announced this week.

The Vigilante logo will be displayed on the players’ uniforms as well as on merchandise such as T-shirts. Team colors are royal blue, black, gray and white.

The namesake vigilante is “a good guy, but he’s no sissy,” General Manager Paula Pyers said. “We wanted him to express a quiet confidence.”

The logo was designed by local artist Jeff Copeland of Copeland Group in Laguna Niguel.

The vigilante will represent a no-nonsense attitude on the field, officials said. The team mascot--a 7-foot-tall rodent-like cartoon figure that will be known as the Vigilante Varmint--will appeal to children.

Team officials also announced plans for the April 1 opening of a kiosk in Mission Viejo Mall where game tickets and Vigilantes merchandise will be sold.
