Galaxy to Face FAS in Charity Game at Santa Ana Stadium

Share

The Galaxy will play FAS, a Salvadoran club, at 7:30 tonight at Santa Ana Stadium.

This is the Galaxy’s fifth warm-up match for the MLS season, which begins March 29 when the Galaxy will play a championship-final rematch against D.C. United at the Rose Bowl.

Two Galaxy players, goalkeeper Jorge Campos and midfielder Cobi Jones, will not play against FAS. Campos is playing with his team, Atlante, in the Mexican League, and Jones is playing with the U.S. national team in Costa Rica.

Taking over for Campos in goal is David Kramer, a former Fresno State All-American. Galaxy Coach Lothar Osiander might try a variety of players in Jones’ spot on the wing, including the speedy Welton, a Brazilian who played for the New England Revolution last season.

The game is a benefit for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s “Help Me Live Foundation,” which assists Salvadoran children with leukemia. Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door.
