CHP Says Boy Threw Concrete Onto 91 Freeway, Injuring Three
The California Highway Patrol is seeking a youth who threw chunks of concrete onto the Riverside Freeway on Saturday night, hitting three cars and injuring three people. Investigators have a suspect in mind, said Sgt. Denise Medina, CHP spokeswoman. The suspect is described only as a boy who investigators suspect was playing a prank.
About 11 p.m. Saturday, pieces of concrete were thrown from the shoulder of the freeway just east of the Santa Ana Freeway. One shattered a windshield, and the driver and two passengers suffered minor cuts and bruises, Medina said. No one else was injured, but the two other cars were damaged, Medina said.
If arrested, the suspect probably will be charged with a felony, Medina said.
“People fail to recognize how dangerous this is,” she said.
In an unrelated but similar incident, Sean Christopher Prewitt, 22, of Fullerton was charged Monday with felony assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly hurled large objects off a west Fullerton railroad overpass at motorists Friday night, police said.
No injuries were reported, but one of the objects was reported to be a six-foot metal bar that came within inches of striking a year-old child riding in her parents’ car, police said.
