‘Doc’ Kariya Gives Selanne Some Tips

Share

Paul Kariya is among the many who are advising patience as Teemu Selanne nurses a pulled muscle in his side. Kariya played through an abdominal injury late last season and during the World Championships, but exacerbated the injury and missed the World Cup and the first 11 games of the Ducks’ season.

“I told him . . . anything that’s muscular . . . it’s all the same,” Kariya said. “You’re always checking and twisting to see if it feels better, and it’s getting worse. You have to leave it alone. The reason you’re hurt is your body is saying you were doing something incorrectly. It needs time to heal. [Otherwise] something that’s a week or a couple of games can end up being a month.”
