Free Events Celebrate Easter and Spring

Easter egg hunts, games and live entertainment are all just a hop, skip and a jump away for Valley kids who want to participate in Easter and spring-themed activities on Saturday and Sunday.

All events at the following locations are free:

* An Easter carnival will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Las Palmas Park, 505 S. Huntington St., San Fernando. Information: (818) 898-1290.

* A spring nut hunt, crafts workshops, a puppet show and pictures with Sammy the Squirrel will be held for kids 2 to 13 at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Northridge Recreation Center and Park, 18300 Lemarsh St. Information: (818) 349-7341.

* Egg-Stravaganza 1997, featuring an egg hunt and games, will be held by the city of Calabasas from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Grape Arbor Park, at Parkville Road and Canwood Street. Information: (818) 880-6461.

* The Great Encino Egg Rush of ’97 will include egg coloring and games from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Los Encinos State Historic Park, 16756 Moorpark St. Information: (818) 784-4849.

* Stories and egg decorating will be offered to children 4 and older from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Glendale Public Library, 222 E. Harvard St. (818) 548-3035.

* The annual Easter egg hunt, petting zoo and pictures with the Easter Bunny will be held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the Westlake Village Inn, 31943 Agoura Road. Information: (818) 889-0230.

* An Easter carnival, with rides and games booths, will be held from 3 to 11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday at Sunland Recreation Center, 8651 Foothill Blvd. Information: (818) 248-5577.
