The widow of former Dodger infielder Jim Gilliam has sued the team, claiming its use of his image on products has denied her millions of dollars. Edwina Higgenbotham also sued Major League Baseball and acting Commissioner Bud Selig in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, seeking unspecified general and punitive damages. The Dodgers had not seen the lawsuit and had no comment, said Shaun Rachau, assistant director of publicity. Higgenbotham claims Gilliam signed a player’s contract allowing baseball to use his likeness during the season when he played but didn’t give permission to use it in the off-season or after he retired.
