School District Lifts Employee’s Suspension

Share

An Inglewood school district employee who was suspended earlier this week because he allegedly used district equipment to campaign for school board members has been reinstated by the board.

Inglewood police seized a computer and several documents allegedly belonging to Hollis Dillon that urged voters to support Larry Aubry and Dexter Henderson and to elect Gloria Gray for City Council. Police also found documents instructing “decision makers,” which appeared to refer to board members, on how to get rid of the Supt. McKinley Nash.

Gray said the board voted Wednesday to allow Dillon, director of special services, to return to work because he has not been charged with any wrongdoing. She said not enough information had been presented to merit keeping Dillon on administrative leave.

Furthermore, Gray said, there is a feeling among district employees that the administration is being selective about which cases they investigate. She said the board has chosen to exercise caution with this personnel matter because similar cases have arisen during past election years and have never been pursued.

“We do whatever it takes to investigate misappropriations,” Gray said. “But we don’t want to put the district or its resources at risk because someone did not have their due process.”
