One restaurant employee was shot to death and another beaten during the robbery of a Domino’s pizza outlet in Eagle Rock, police said.

Neither of the employees were identified, and Los Angeles police officials said two robbers got away with an unknown amount of cash.

The employee who was killed had locked himself in a back office when one of the robbers entered the restaurant with a gun late Friday night. The second robber kept a lookout while the gunman demanded that one of the employees open the cash box and the safe, police said.

When the employee insisted that he could not open the safe, the armed robber “pistol whipped” the man and forced him to the back office, according to police.

The gunman then demanded that the other employee empty the cash box. When he told the gunman that he could not open the safe, he was fatally shot in the face.
