Electronic Arts Buys Stake in Mpath

San Mateo-based Electronic Arts Inc. said it bought a minority stake in Mountain View-based Mpath Interactive and agreed to license some of its software games to the closely held interactive entertainment company. Terms weren’t disclosed. Electronic Arts, which makes interactive games for Sony Corp.’s PlayStation and Sega Enterprises’ Sega Saturn entertainment system, said it will license its games to Mpath’s Mplayer online gaming service. Electronic Arts will also use Mpath Foundation, the technology and business systems behind Mplayer, to develop games for the World Wide Web under its own brands.
