Volunteers Sought for Community Cleanup

Share

The Panorama City Revitalization Assn., the local branch of Graffiti Busters and the Van Nuys Division of the Los Angeles Police Department are asking for volunteers to join them for a community cleanup on Saturday morning.

The quarterly event features groups of volunteers who fan out around Panorama City’s neighborhoods to sweep, pick up trash, paint over graffiti and haul away discarded furniture, said Leslie Yamashita, director of the Revitalization Assn.

“We do it simply to clean up the streets, to take pride in making the community sparkle,” Yamashita said.

“We will have plenty of tools available, but if people have their favorites they are welcome to bring them too,” she said.

Those interested in participating in the cleanup should meet at 8 a.m. Saturday near Roscoe Boulevard and Tobias Avenue, at the southwest corner of the Panorama Mall parking lot.

At 11:45 a.m., participants will meet for a picnic in Sepulveda Park, at Parthenia Street and Kester Avenue. Refreshments will be provided, but volunteers must bring their own lunches.
