Disaster-Preparedness Workshop Thursday
The city is offering a disaster-preparedness workshop Thursday that features a demonstration of which items to pack into a survival kit.
Kathy Williams, an emergency coordinator at City Hall who works closely with the Fire Department, will explain how local government prepares and responds in times of catastrophe. Other topics include preparation in schools, the nature of disasters and how businesses can recover.
The class will be at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Center, 10200 Slate Ave., behind City Hall. There is a $10 materials fee per family. Registration is required.
