Clipper update--They won the final three games of a seven-game trip and have a four-game lead over the Sacramento Kings for the eighth and final Western Conference playoff berth with seven games left. Guard Terry Dehere, who had 15 points in 15 minutes in Sunday’s 103-96 victory at New Jersey, has averaged 16 points in his last two games. The Clippers, who beat the Rockets, 95-91, on Jan. 4 to end a 20-game road losing streak at Houston, will also play the Rockets at Houston on April 15.

Rocket update--Charles Barkley, who sat out a month because of a hip injury, had 28 points in Sunday’s 94-85 victory at Vancouver. The Rockets have won a franchise-record 25 road games and have won 50 games for the fifth time. Center Hakeem Olajuwon, who ranks among the league leaders in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots, had only 10 points and six rebounds against the Grizzlies before fouling out in the fourth quarter.
