Share

About 2,000 outdoors enthusiasts are expected to converge on Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park today for the second annual Adventure Day, organizers said.

The free event, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will feature a variety of activities, from Juaneno Indian art displays to Western poetry readings and nature tours.

“We’re holding Adventure Day to promote environmental awareness,” county ranger John Gannaway said. “We want to let people know that the park is here.”

Many environmental groups will sponsor booths where people can learn about the features and attractions of the wilderness park. Nature programs will be offered at the ranger headquarters.

To get there, exit the Interstate 5 freeway at Ortega Highway and travel east. The park entrance is about 7.5 miles from the freeway. Information: (714) 728-0235.
