Opportunities for Volunteering

The Burbank District of the American Red Cross, Los Angeles chapter, 1001 W. Magnolia Blvd. in Burbank needs volunteers to help with front desk operations and blood services. The volunteers greet clients and answer telephones. Previous clerical experience is a plus. Blood service volunteers are also needed to help donors at bloodmobiles and at fixed donation sites. Volunteers are needed to work in the reception and canteen areas. Training is provided. The Los Angeles Police Department, Foothill Area Jeopardy, Balancing the Odds program needs volunteers to work two to 10 hours a week Monday through Saturday. Volunteers are needed to coach boxing and in-line hockey as well as help with programs in dance, theater arts, screenwriting and martial arts. The Jeopardy, Balancing the Odds program is meant to deter children ages 9 to 17 from joining gangs. For more information, call Vicki Boss Edwards, volunteer coordinator, at (818) 837-1167.
