Businesswoman Denies Attack on IRS Agent
A Santa Ana businesswoman was indicted on a single charge of assaulting an IRS agent who was attempting to collect on a $259,000 tax lien against her company, the U.S. attorney’s office said Monday.
Mary T. Boyajian, 57, who operates ABC Anesthesia Inc. in Fountain Valley, faces a maximum of 10 years in prison if convicted on the charge of assault causing bodily injury.
“I can’t believe it,” a sobbing Boyajian said after learning of the indictment. “I did not attack anybody; I never touched anybody.”
The incident allegedly occurred Jan. 28. Boyajian is believed to have hurt the hand of a female revenue agent, though the agent didn’t require any hospitalization.
Boyajian is to be arraigned April 28.
