Wisconsin Man Held in Local Robbery

A Wisconsin fugitive is being held in connection with the armed robbery of Postal Depot Plus in Thousand Oaks last week.

Charles Thomas Pfost, 33, of Racine, Wis., was arrested by Los Angeles police after a car chase through the streets of Canoga Park and Reseda late Friday afternoon.

Police tried to stop Pfost after a check of his Wisconsin plates showed him with outstanding warrants in that state based on several residential burglary and firearm charges.

The pursuit ended when Pfost crashed into a tree and tried to run from the vehicle.

Los Angeles police said they found items, which they did not identify, in his car that allegedly link him to the earlier Thousand Oaks robbery.

Pfost was arrested on felony evasion charges and is being held in Los Angeles County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail. He later will be transferred to Ventura County and held in connection with the Postal Depot Plus armed robbery.

Ventura County authorities also suspect Pfost may have used his white 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass in other Ventura County robberies within the last month, according to Sheriff’s Det. Joe Braga.

Authorities allege that Pfost entered the Postal Depot Plus at 2899 Agoura Road about 5:20 p.m. on April 8, pulled a handgun on the owner and made off with the day’s receipts.

“He’s a dangerous, dangerous character,” Braga said Wednesday, “very much into guns and very much into hard crimes.”

Anyone who may have seen Pfost’s car involved in any other local criminal activity is asked to call Braga at 494-8223.
