Spotlight: Small-Business Leaders Give Schools Poor Grades
Small-business leaders throughout the state believe California’s public schools rank below average in preparing students for the work force, a state Chamber of Commerce opinion poll has found. In a poll of 700 attendees at the annual Small Business Legislative Conference in Sacramento, 57% gave public schools a D or worse in preparing students for the work force. About 72% of respondents said students should have to meet certain standards before being allowed to advance.
