The San Fernando Valley Child Guidance Clinic will commemorate 35 years of service to mentally disturbed children at its annual Humanitarian Award dinner dance Thursday at the Universal Sheraton hotel.

The black-tie-optional event, called “A Tradition of Caring Continues,” will raise money to support the nonprofit organization’s clinics, school and residential home facilities, said spokeswoman Lori Kent.

“Our 35th anniversary is a very big milestone for us,” she said. “We are celebrating a continuing tradition of providing very important services to these children.”

Because of her family’s history of philanthropy, Kent said, Valerie Hamer-Daidah, of Hamer Toyota, will receive this year’s Humanitarian Award.

Founded in 1962, the Child Guidance Clinic provides counseling, education and mental health treatment for emotionally troubled, neglected and abused children. It operates clinics in Northridge, Panorama City and Palmdale as well as four residential homes and a special education school for 70 students at its Northridge facility.

Tickets to Thursday’s awards dinner are $175. For more information, call the clinic at (818) 993-9311.
