Free Breast Cancer Screenings Offered
Free breast cancer screenings will be offered across the county next month to low-income women 40 and older.
Dates and locations are: May 8 at the Santa Ana Senior Center; May 14 at the Garden Grove American-Korean Community Center and May 29 at Orange Senior Center.
Mammograms are being sponsored by the YWCA of North Orange County, Orange County Breast Cancer Partnership Early Detection Program and Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Organizers said the breast examinations will be given by appointment only.
Nationwide, 43,900 women die of breast cancer each year. Early detection, however, can reduce the numbers dramatically, researchers say.
