Buena Park Recovers From Equipment Theft

Share

Buena Park’s baseball team, which missed a day of workouts because the majority of its equipment had been stolen from the baseball office, practiced Tuesday, Coach Russ McHale said.

Twenty fielder’s gloves, a catcher’s mitt, 15 batting gloves, and seven bats were among the items stolen when the Coyotes’ office was vandalized last weekend.

“The kids didn’t have the essential equipment to play Monday,” McHale said. “But we decided that it was important to get the kids back on the field and put the incident behind us.” McHale said.

Buena Park had been saving money from its fund raisers to build new dugouts, but it dipped into that account to pay for new equipment purchased, McHale said.

A local sporting goods store helped replenish the Coyotes’ equipment supply.

Buena Park is 11-7, 6-3 in the Freeway League, and in second place behind Sonora (16-3, 8-1), ranked seventh in the county.

Buena Park plays at Fullerton today and will play host to Fullerton Friday.
