Critic-as-apologist Robert Hilburn glosses over a more likely motivation for John Fogerty’s return to the Creedence repertoire on the concert stage (“Way Beyond Center Field,” May 4).
What better way to lob another round at his ex-bandmates than to compete with their tour? After suing his former band for essentially touring behind the group repertoire, his current road trip can only be viewed as “the undermining retaliation tour.”
When Fogerty lets go of that anger, apologizes for his treatment of ex-bandmates Stu Cook and Doug Clifford at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony and makes true peace, I’ll be the first in line to buy his new album and support his tour.
