FOUNTAIN VALLEY — A 29-year-old Costa Mesa man was in custody Tuesday on suspicion of committing a lewd act on a child and indecent exposure, police said.
Javier Macias was being held at the Huntington Beach city jail in lieu of $10,000 bail Tuesday, a day after he was arrested at his home for allegedly victimizing a 6-year-old girl, according to Fountain Valley Police Sgt. Jim Perry.
Macias is suspected of offering the child candy last Thursday to lure her to the side yard of a house on the 17500 block of Santa Monica Circle in Fountain Valley, Perry said.
Macias allegedly began kissing the child and exposed himself to her before she escaped and ran home, police said.
Macias is also suspected of a December 1996 incident in which a 12-year-old girl was lured into some bushes along the same street, Perry said. The girl resisted and was not injured in that incident.
