Scanning Sunday box scores: TRIPLE A--Designated hitter Matt Howard (Pepperdine) had two hits, including a triple, for Columbus, Ohio. DOUBLE A--Catcher Del Marine (Canoga Park, Moorpark College) had a double and three RBIs for Jacksonville, Fla. . . . Scott Smith hit his fourth home run and Shane Monahan had three hits for Memphis. Both are former JetHawks. . . . Right-hander Brett Hinchliffe, another former JetHawk, gave up one run in 7 2/3 innings to improve to 5-2 for Memphis. . . . Outfielder Scott Richardson (Cal State Northridge) had three hits and scored the only run in San Antonio’s 1-0 victory. CLASS A--First baseman Mike Mitchell (Rio Mesa) had three hits, including his 22nd and 23rd doubles, for Rancho Cucamonga. . . . Outfielder Gary Matthews Jr. (Granada Hills, Mission College) hit his seventh home run for Rancho Cucamonga. . . . First baseman Jon Tucker (Chatsworth) hit his fifth home run and drove in three runs for Vero Beach. . . . Left-hander Adam West (Thousand Oaks, Pierce) picked up a victory in relief for Peoria, Ill., improving to 3-2.
